Bungendore was settled in 1837 and is a historic village with many well – preserved old buildings. It is situated on the Kings Highway between Canberra and Batemans Bay, and is an easy 40 minute drive from Canberra.
Bungendore combines the best of both worlds. It is a thriving rural village with a strong sense of community that also has a touch of urban sophistication. There are around 5,000 residents, with a combination of families that have been here for generations and younger families moving here for the open space and easy going lifestyle. While Bungendore might seem like a collection of small shops when you drive through, it is only when you stop and walk around that you realise there is much more to it. Besides the different cafes, pubs, and award winning restaurants, there are some breathtakingly beautiful galleries, historic places to stay, and a brand new playground that will keep the children (and adults!) entertained for hours. Jump in the car, hope on the train, or come for a ride on your bike and spend a rewarding day or two exploring what Bungendore has to offer.
